My Experience with Nutrition
At 37, I experienced all of these frustrations. Lethargy, insomnia, stomach pain, constipation, bloating, brain fog, endometriosis pain and joint pain were a daily occurrence. On top of that, I was an emotional roller coaster. I knew that at 37 years old I should not feel this way. I was in the prime of my life! After several doctor visits and tests, I was told that everything was “normal” and was then referred to a gastroenterologist. Finally, after blood work and several procedures I was diagnosed with Leaky Gut Syndrome and food allergies.
On the day of my diagnosis, my doctor told me something that changed my life. He explained that in order to cure my condition, not just treat symptoms, I needed to change the way I ate. Prescriptions would only relieve symptoms. My doctor referred me to a Registered Dietician who, over the course of a few months, helped me identify foods that were wreaking havoc inside my body. It was then I made the connection between the food I ate and how it hurt – or helped – how I felt physically and emotionally.
I became passionate about learning and sharing the healing power of whole foods, and enrolled in school to become a Holistic Nutrition Consultant. In 2016 I graduated with honors, and I am excited to share my knowledge e and experience with others.
